Our Story
Marlborough Plumbing & Heating began as Running Plumbing in 2000, when owner Rob Marshall relocated to Blenheim after many years working in the trade in North Canterbury. In 2002, Rob rebranded to Marlborough Plumbing & Heating, a deliberate statement of intent. He'd seen firsthand that Marlborough lacked a specialist hydronic heating installer, and he set out to fill that gap.
More than two decades later, MPH has installed over 600 radiators and laid more than 150 kilometres of underfloor heating pipe across the region. We're Marlborough's most experienced hydronic heating installer, and we're still based here, still local, and still answering the phone.
Our philosophy hasn't changed since day one: we're here to help, not to sell. We'll give you honest advice about what you need, we won't recommend work that isn't necessary, and we'll stand behind everything we do. That's why the majority of our work comes through repeat clients and referrals.

Owner
Rob Marshall
Owner & Certifying Plumber - Central Heating system specialist
Rob has more than 35 years’ experience in the plumbing and heating industry, having trained in North Canterbury where he gained extensive experience installing complex radiator and central heating systems in farm homesteads throughout the region. In 2000, Rob moved to Marlborough with his young family and established Running Plumbing in 2002. Recognising a need in the region for specialist home-heating expertise, the business was rebranded as Marlborough Plumbing & Heating in 2004, with a strong focus on New home Plumbing, Commercial, renovations & Central heating, radiator and underfloor heating systems. Today, Rob holds a Certifying Plumber licence and oversees the company’s major projects. One of the most rewarding parts of running the business for Rob is working alongside his team and passing on the practical knowledge he has built up over more than three decades in the trade. He takes great pride in seeing his team develop into highly skilled tradesmen, encouraging them to understand not just how a system is installed, but why it is designed and installed that way. Sharing that experience with the next generation of tradesmen has become an important part of Rob’s role and helps ensure the high standard of workmanship Marlborough Plumbing & Heating is known for continues well into the future.
Logan Price
Licenced Plumber
Logan brings solid experience across all areas of plumbing and is currently completing his final registration requirements in drainlaying. He plans to continue developing his qualifications, with the goal of becoming a Certifying Plumber & Drainlayer within the next two years. A capable and experienced tradesman, Logan enjoys the day-to-day challenges of the trade and takes pride in tackling the wide variety of jobs and projects that come his way.
Ash Nicklin
Jorneyman Plumber
Ash is a highly experienced journeyman plumber with extensive knowledge across both residential and commercial plumbing, gained over many years in the trade. Reliable and methodical, Ash has an exceptional ability to troubleshoot problems and find practical solutions. He is well regarded by our clients for his tidy workmanship, clear communication and professional, easy-going manner. A highly valued member of the MPH team, Ash consistently receives great feedback from clients and is always a pleasure to work alongside.
Shea Kitchin
Apprentice Plumber
Shea is currently in the final year of his plumbing apprenticeship with MPH, having developed his skills across all areas of the trade under the guidance of our experienced team. Throughout his apprenticeship, Shea has impressed us with his ability, work ethic and genuine commitment to becoming a top tradesman. He is a highly valued member of our team and has a natural ability to communicate with clients, earning their trust through his friendly manner and professional approach. We’re extremely proud of the tradesman Shea is becoming and see a very bright future ahead of him in the industry.
Megan Bryant
Office Administrator
Megan joined MPH in February 2024 and has quickly become an incredibly valued member of our team. As the first point of contact for most of our clients, Megan keeps the office running smoothly, managing scheduling, invoicing and customer communications. Professional, organised and an excellent communicator, she has a natural ability to connect with customers and keep everything on track. Megan brings a positive energy to the workplace, is always great fun to have around, and has become an important part of the day-to-day running of MPH.

Full membership of the Master Plumbers, Gasfitters & Drainlayers of NZ, the peak body for the trade.
Master Drainlayers NZ
Accreditation for all aspects of drainlaying work, including residential and commercial drainage.
PGDB Licensed
Licensed by the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board, the statutory licensing authority for the trade in New Zealand.
Stiebel Eltron Accredited Installer
Factory-trained and assessed by Stiebel Eltron to install and warranty their premium heat pump and heating systems.
CHNZ Certified Pro Installer
Central Heating New Zealand Certified Pro, a designation requiring demonstrated competence in hydronic heating system design and installation.
Our Service Area
We're based in Blenheim and cover the full Marlborough region, from Kaikōura in the south to the outer Marlborough Sounds in the north. Most of our work is within 30 minutes of Blenheim, but we travel for the right job.
